On Friday 10th June, the Global Fund Uganda Sub- recipient quarterly performance review meeting was held at the Kampala Serena Hotel. The meeting was attended by a range of implementing partners who included the Uganda Aids Commission, the Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Programme for Accessible Health Communication and Education, Uganda virus research Institute, the Makerere University School of Public Health and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The meeting offered an opportunity to listen to the Sub Recipients’ insights and concerns while providing an opportunity for the Principal Recipient to offer oversight and guidance. The next sub-recipients meeting will focus on the results areas of the sub-recipients.
The Global Fund attracts, manages, and disburses resources to fight AIDS, TB, and malaria. The Global fund does not implement programs directly, it works through contracting a principal recipient then later sub-contracts a Sub recipient entity.
In many cases, the partners of Global Fund participate in local Country Coordinating Mechanisms that provide important technical assistance during the development of proposals and implementation of programs.
