The Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanism (UCCM) of the Global Fund convened a risk management workshop between 4-5 May in Kampala, to among others strengthen capacity of all Global Fund Grants implementers to manage risks and develop a risk matrix that includes potential risks and mitigation measures for the identified risks. During every funding cycle, the UCCM creates opportunities to build capacity of all implementers of Global Fund Grants and board members toward risk management.
The workshop focused among others on the fundamental of the Global Fund Risk Management Framework and the updates on implementing the Risk management processes of NFM III for the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, and The Aids Support Organisation.
The workshop also discussed the Grant Risk Assessment and Management (GRAM) Tools, which identify risks and develop action plans to manage and or mitigate the skills.
The Global Fund mandates the UCCM to mobilize resources to support the national response to HIV/AIDS., Tuberculosis, and Malaria epidemics. These resources are in addition to the available government resources that support the country’s priorities as outlined in the National Strategic Plans (NSPs) for fighting HIV & AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. The UCCM also plays an oversight role which involves the formulation of frameworks to manage potential risks for all Global Fund grants for effective
program implementation.
